A question that has long been circling in my head and I continue to ponder.
Am I satisfied? Am I content?
When you have the family, the job, the things and yet there is this question still circling of, Is there more? The question isn’t about stuff but more about my contribution, my “calling”.
You see God has given each of us unique gifts, passions, relationships and challenges. None of these things are by accident. God in his sovereignty planned all this before the beginning of time. He is purposeful and His purpose is for His glory! My trials or sufferings are not lost or useless.
Your trials or suffering…
Is it possible that God has or will use this very thing to draw you unto Himself; into a deeper relationship with Him? This thorn could produce in you the very thing he wants you to use as a mission to fulfill His purpose for your life. Could this be the way he will use you to influence and affect others lives for the better – possibly for eternity?
Don’t discount your current situation. Don’t overlook your past pains! They are all for a reason and God can and will use them for His good and His glory! Ecclesiastes 3:11 reminds me in the hard times that, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.” And the book of James even tells me to “count it all joy” when I face trials of many kinds. There are benefits – look up Romans 5. Our suffering produces character and ultimately a hope that is ONLY in Christ.
Likewise, let’s not brush aside our passions and talents.
What is it that is a passion of yours? What has God gifted you in? What dream do you have that won’t be quiet or go away? Our passions have a purpose also! Every season serves a purpose. Step into where God has you and who he has made you to be. It is not about becoming but simply beholding him and being still with Him in who HE is. He will then show you who he needs you to be in this season.
With these sufferings or challenges and with these passions and giftings on your life, what then is your calling? How can you serve Him and bring him glory – right now, in this season, with the deck you have been dealt? Every calling has a COST! Cost produces character and in this we are continually sanctified.
Sanctification is simply being made more like Christ and his character. Isn’t that the ultimate goal for the Christian life?
Has He called you to be a stay-at-home mom? Has he called you to serve in a certain ministry or even start one that is on your heart? Has He called you to work in a certain field or environment possibly so you can share the gospel with a lost co-worker? What is the old saying… bloom where you are planted! Be used by him in the seemingly little or mundane and he will lead you to your purpose he has for you. See each and every moment as ordained by Him – therefore Holy and full of purpose.
Contentment is learned. Contentment is conditional. The main thing to realize is we will NEVER be content or fully satisfied apart from Christ!!!
Before I cut myself off I want to give you a few last verses and not leave you hanging without a bit of a solution to satisfaction.
Do you want to be satisfied? Here it is… Read the Beatitudes this week and I want to point out verse 5 in Matthew Chapter 5.
Matthew 5:6 says, “Blessed are those who HUNGER and THIRST for righteousness.” Do we hunger and thirst for Christ? For more of Him and Him alone – not what he can do for us! Let’s want righteousness more than the better job, more sleep or a day at the lake (insert your leisure of choice).
Take rest and reassurance in this last verse for today. I read Psalm 107:9 and it just encouraged me and I hope it will you as well. “For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.” I established in my “About Me” page that I love food. Am I also hungry for Christ and the truths in his word? Does my soul long for Him each day?
I must first be hungry to be filled up!
Come hungry to the throne of Christ and HE WILL SATISFY! I am satisfied in Him ALONE. Not in my new venture of writing, not in the love of my husband and a great date night, not in my sweet children and their talents or straight A’s. Although all these are great pleasures in my life, I am satisfied in knowing Christ. I am satisfied as I serve Him by sharing the gospel message of love and forgiveness to those He has placed in my life. Thanks for being one of those friends he has placed in my life!!! See it is not my fault you have to put up with me. God has brought us together and for that I am grateful. Hope you are too!!!
Comment and let me know how God is using your current season. Your story will help me and others to see God’s faithfulness as it is displayed in your life.

I love you So much, my heart is about to EXPLODE…. this is amazing and God used it in a MIGHTY way to encourage, convict, and repent of many wasted hours of not hungering for Him as He desires my heart to long after Him as He does for me.
This is the beginning of a great ” GOD-THING”…. (bless you, my angel. I love you 2000 ELEPHANTS), MEME
I love you and want to acknowledge and remind you that you have helped shape me into who I am by your love, advice and simple example of how you lead you life. I have been and will continue to be watching you my dear sister. Now come home!!
Love this and I am sharing it with my daughter. She has just been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos syndrome and this is certainly our trial at this time. I am certain God will use our trial to help someone, someday. Thank you for sharing. We go to church with your sweet and beautiful Mom!
WoW! Sorry for the delay. I just today figured out where my comments were and how to respond. lol! This has been a huge learning curve for me. Not writing but all the technology. I know a new diagnosis can be overwhelming. I don’t know anything about that disease but I have walked through hearing news you don’t want or know how to process yet. Is it something they can treat? Praying she continues to find answers and encouragement and strength in Christ. Thankful she has you. I wouldn’t have gotten through all I have without my Jesus and my MOM! If I can help in any way please reach out. Tara
